SUMMARY NOTES

We use the term ego to define the default experience of adulthood.

The reality of the ego includes our identity, thought patterns, and emotions. Together these lead to the creation of our beliefs and worldview.

The ego is always seeking survival first. When its beliefs and worldview are threatened, it feels unsafe.

The ego has certain limitations, but it also has the potential to evolve.

The nature and structure of a pilgrimage can take the ego beyond its boundaries and stimulate the growth of the ego in a powerful way.
